A Petition Worth Signing

An important advertisement by Multigrain Cheerios, warning against 'dietainment', "unhealthy diet messages disguised as harmless entertainment"

If you haven't already, I urge you to watch this candid advertisement by Multigrain Cheerios. In thirty seconds, you'll see how important it is to sign the petition against "dietainment" and put an end to the diet-centric advertisements and body-dysmorphing messages that infiltrate today's media.

I know from personal experience that the media can plant and exacerbate disordered thoughts around body image, self-worth, eating and exercise, especially in the minds of young girls. I can trace my earliest desires for starvation to the age of ten, and it's no wonder, with the amount of dietainment we're exposed to on a daily basis.

When I imagine a World Without Dieting, I become quite emotional. I imagine a world in which young girls (and boys!) are taught that the range of body-types out there is as gradient as the range of hair colours, and that all people, no matter their shape or size, deserve to watch television, surf the internet and walk down the street without being told their bodies are inadequate, or that they're one juice-cleanse away from deserving love. Please take the next ten seconds to sign the petition for a World Without Dieting, HERE. You'll be happy you did.
