Prepping for take-off at Victoria's downtown harbour airport
I'm gearing up for my next big trip abroad, and I'm so excited to share a few trinkets I'll be bringing along with me to keep organized while travelling.

1. Apple World Traveler Adapter Kit: I was not prepared for my last vacation in Saint Lucia, as I naively thought the electrical plugs would be North American on the island. As a long-time colony of France, however, Saint Lucia has the same plugs you'll find over in Paris. Luckily, I was travelling with a very careful friend, who brought different types of adapters, and we were all able to rotate charging our phones and cameras for the duration of the trip. For my next trip, however, I've invested in the Apple World Traveler Adapter Kit, which has plug-ins for just about any plug you can find while travelling, and USB ports for all of your Apple devices.

2. Palomar Crumpled City Maps: I love the idea of these lightweight, indestructible city maps. Designed to be crumpled up and stuffed in your pockets while exploring, these maps are a great alternative to astronomical roaming fees on your smartphone, when you’re trying to find your way in a new place.

3. Go Clean Laundry Bag: While plastic bags can be great to use when compartmentalizing your suitcase, longer trips can necessitate a more durable casing for storing your dirty laundry. I love these nylon laundry bags from Shopbop, with their bright magenta colour, and odour-resistant lining.

4. Sephora Pull It Together Travel Bag: I love that this bag lets you lay all of your makeup out on its 20 inch surface when you're putting on your face. Then, when it's time to head to your next destination, you simply pull the drawstring, and the bag closes up compactly for you to pack up and head out.

5. Runway Foldable Water Bottle: I love my Swell water bottle, but when space is limited in your carry-on, it's important to bring along a water bottle that takes up minimal space and weighs as little as possible. These lightweight water bottles from ahalife fold-up, roll-up or lay flat when they're not full, and let you keep hydrated without weighing down your baggage.

6. Correspondent Passport Wallet: I'm all for stylish passport wallets, but I feel much better about carrying one that zips up and holds my passport and travel docs securely. This one from Shopbop is the perfect option for those hopping on a flight sometime soon.

7. euroSchirm Light Trek Automatic Umbrella: This guy is as good as they come. It's wide and deep when open in the rain, and tiny when folded up inside your carry-on, plus it's mighty durable against the wind, and weighs next to nothing for those sunny days, when you're toting it around in your bag, basking in the sun. It also opens and closes with the push of a button, so you’ll seem effortlessly chic in front of the locals when it starts to drizzle.

8. Kate Spade "The Perfect Pair" Shoe Bag: Ask anyone who knows me well; I love my shoes. It's important to take good care of all my beloved stilettos when I'm travelling, and these adorable Kate Spade shoe bags always do the trick, preventing the buckles on my suede booties from catching on my leather sandals.

9. Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones: Newborn baby on your flight? School trip seated in your cabin for the next ten hours? These Bose noise-cancelling headphones are essential for blocking out all the noise you don't want, and bringing you your music, podcasts and audiobooks with the utmost clarity. During take-off and landing, I switch over to my trusted EarPlanes, which help prevent my ears from popping (I have super sensitive ears and before I used EarPlanes it would take days for my hearing to return to normal after flying), but for the rest of the flight, these headphones are my saviour. They are an investment, but will benefit you at all times, not just when travelling. They really are worth it if you're like me, and love to listen to your tunes while working away.

10. Carry-On Cocktail Kits: Okay, so these are less of a necessity, and more of an indulgent way to take your boring in-flight cocktail up a few notches. It doesn't matter if you're in first class, or the last row of coach, you'll feel like a glamourous jetsetter when you're sipping on one of these champagne cocktails while travelling to your next destination.
