An Evening in Halston

What does one wear to a winter wedding? Funnily enough, I found myself wondering this last spring, as my sisters and I went out in search of attire for our brother's November wedding.

With tones of gold set as the couple's colour scheme, the bride requested that the special ladies in her life wear a muted version of the classic metallic. I found this Halston dress online and immediately became besotted with it, but with minimal gold and a hefty price tag, I quickly told myself no.

After deliberating with the bride, however, and gushing with love for the gown, we both agreed it would be the perfect dress for a whimsical winter wedding. From there, I considered the dress a source of inspiration...until...I saw the dress on comedian, Amy Schumer, at the 2015 GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards, (she rocked it, and made this hilarious speech) and decided to check online to see if, by any chance, the dress had gone on sale since I first discovered it.

When I checked the site, the price of the dress had dropped by one third, but there was only one dress left. In a twist of fate, the last one was my size, and I thought, well, this has to be a sign.

I had so much fun wearing this gown at the wedding last weekend. Not only was the whole night a beautiful celebration of love, it was also a celebration of great friends, good food and shameless dancing, and this dress was an amazing one for twirling around the dance floor. Congrats S & L! And thanks for giving me an excuse to wear this stunner of a dress ;)
